Black Accessories, Colorful Dress

Hello, hello everyone! It has been a while since an outfit post on this little blog of mine. My days have been consumed with house hunting, play practices, lesson planning, etc...sometimes editing photos just takes the backseat!
Yes, Sean and I are still looking for a house...the last one we made an offer on fell through so I'm a bit frustrated with the whole ordeal. However, we still have some time so I'm not too thoroughly stressed yet. Ask me again in a few weeks ;)

I loved wearing this dress for a nice spring day on Sunday. The pretty pastel colors just make me  happy and it doesn't need any fussy accessories to stand out.

So, a funny thing happened at our church on Sunday. Our pastor made this awesome segue from talking about Zac Morris in Saved by the Bell, to a message on Zac (Zacchaeus) in the Bible. It was pretty epic and hilarious and I love that this church we attend doesn't take itself so seriously. Our pastor always thinks of funny ways to get our attention without losing the message in the process. Here's the clip if you're interested! You can watch all of our church's past sermons online, which I love for those weekends we can't make it to the service.

I hope you're all having a great week so far!

Kingswood Rummage Part 2

I went for a second day of rummaging around town today and scored some serious beauties. I'll be quick as I'm on my way to work, but I couldn't wait to post some of these!

This blouse has a few stains, but I couldn't pass up the darling collar detail. Plus, I bundled this with another item so I basically got it for free after I showed them the stains...score!

This was my ultimate find of the day. Look at the pretty fabric and amazing detail around the neckline! I can't wait to wear this one.

I've been looking for the perfect vintage jean jacket and I scored this one for two bucks. I can see it getting a ton of wear on cool summer nights!

And a pretty floral top for a quarter, can't beat that!

I love rummage sales :D

Kingswood Rummage

There is a huge rummage event in our city each April called the Kingswood Rummage Sale. It is four days of endless rummage sales. You just park your car and walk around to countless houses treasure hunting! Today was the first day and I found some neat treasures.

I found this earring case with ten pairs of gorgeous vintage earrings inside for FOUR DOLLARS! The best score of the day, for sure.

These darling two-tone leather loafers were two dollars.

A cute tank for summer for a dollar!

Lastly, this darling vintage dress with pearl and rose buttons for four dollars.

I'm going back tomorrow to hopefully find even more hidden gems!
Have a blessed Wednesday!
God Bless,

1 Peter 1:18-19
For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.

Victory Rolls

Well, chalk this up to one of my favorite outfits to wear ever. Sean and I had a busy day on Sunday and I was so comfortable and cozy all day long in this ensemble. Sunday consisted of church, where we heard a great speaker named Timothy Willard. I hadn't heard of him before but he is an author and speaker who gave a great message on an authentic relationship with Christ. It was a really convicting message and I was glad to hear him speak.
After church we spent some time at the diner having lunch with a couple of great friends! They are a couple from near my hometown who I grew up with through summer camp. They are similar to Sean and I in many ways, so it was great to catch up with them and talk about life, house hunting, and job stuff. We stayed for a few hours at the diner just chatting!

The diner was the perfect spot for some photos of this rather 40's ensemble. I tried some victory rolls in my hair which turned out quite swimmingly, surprisingly! I usually have trouble with victory rolls because my hair is a bit fine. However I still had quite a bit of curl left from the other day, so it helped to give it some structure and body. I'll have to make a couple of tutorials soon for the different styles I've been trying out. Most of the time I just experiment and take whatever comes from that!

After the diner, Sean and I met our realtor for a look at a couple more houses. We actually found one that we fell in LOVE with. We haven't found one that we both like yet, so it was great to find something we agreed upon. We put in an offer for it last night and are just waiting to see if the offer gets accepted. I'll let you know as soon as I find out! The anticipation is sort of killing me. I was up at 5am this morning like a kid on Christmas.

This suit is the third I received from the woman at Benson's Flea Market a few weeks ago. She gave me this one for free because it was a bit rumpled, but I just adore it! The darling collar on the jacket and the pleats on the skirt are just perfect for the look I was going for and I can see getting a ton of use out of this in the future. I cannot believe it was such a steal!

Lastly, I found out that I got into the play that I auditioned for! I can't say too much yet, but I can at least tell you that I made the cut. I can't wait for auditions to begin! Hoorah!
Well my dears, I have some lessons to plan that I didn't get to with all of the craziness yesterday. Have a lovely start to your week!

The Poodle

I love to try out new hairstyles. I think that in vintage fashion, a good hairstyle is the key to transforming yourself into someone from a bygone era. Fashions and silhouettes have only changed slightly throughout the decades. Hair, however has been like a sculpture, evolving like an artform into so many styles. Today hair is so low maintenance that many (myself included) tend to just wash and wear our hair down and straight. There's not enough fun thrown into process of getting all done up on a day to day basis!
I recently received a series of books on vintage styling (hopefully a review on those soon) and couldn't wait to try out some of the styles within them. This hairstyle is called "The Poodle" and was most famously worn on the fantastic Lucille Ball. She is definitely one of my fashion icons. My hair even looks a bit more red in a style like this! Perhaps I really was channeling Lucy a bit ;)
I wore this to our favorite little diner spot for some brunch with my hubby and father in law! Those are always the best times, chatting over pancakes and such :)

My hair is a bit long for this style, so some of my curls pulled out in the wind before I could get them pinned. It just looks a bit more tousled I suppose...I shall have to fix that for next time! The style took a bit of time, but was actually quite simple! I wore my hair in curlers the night before and then took them out the next morning. I just finger combed through the curls, tipped my head upside down, twisted the hair a bit, and pinned it to my head with some clips and a few bobby pins. I then piled the curls on top of my head until I was satisfied with the way they looked and then pinned the goodness out of them! Lastly, hairspray. Oh so much hairspray!

I found this dandy of a cardigan on my most recent thrift venture for four dollars! It has the loveliest embroidery on it and the creamy shade of pale pink is perfect to pair with all of my skirts and dresses. It is one of my favorite finds yet! Not to mention these pearl and rhinestone drop earrings that were three dollars. I couldn't pass them up!

I hope you're having a simply lovely weekend! Hopefully our snow has stopped for the year and warmer temps are on their way, but who knows.
God Bless!
